Daniel and The Lion- “Paper Dove”
Remember when I told you how much incredible music I heard in Nashville a few weekends ago and promised to get you some proof?
Exhibit A: Daniel and The Lion. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this Madison, Wisconsin based duo but to say I was pleasantly surprised would be quite the understatement. They are the type of band that gives me hope for the future of mainstream music because they are super commercial and crazy talented. I loved all their upbeat stuff, but when they completely silenced a stunned crowd with the hauntingly beautiful “Paper Dove”, I knew this was something big.
Plus they passed the hardest test of all: I sent the song to Bridie (who usually tells me I’m exaggerating and “No, Nora they are not a gold mine”) and she’s been playing it all week accompanied by daily texts of “seriously that ‘Paper Dove’ song is so pretty”. Sorry, Bridie, now people know you have a heart.
Daniel and Jimmie (the lion) are super cool, too, so that always helps in the general category of liking people more.
Check out the song above and stalk the band here: www.datlband.com. They have a new album coming out soon and then you know, world domination, so…
